How old is that water heater?

Pick the brand, paste the serial number off the rating plate, and get the manufacture date and age instantly. Every brand hides the date in a different code — we read them all.

Rating plate is a sticker on the side of the tank near the thermostat/controls. Serial formats we decode: Rheem-family = first four digits are month + year (MMYY). A.O. Smith-family = first four digits are year + week (YYWW). Bradford White = first two letters are year + month. GE and Kenmore units are built by different makers over the years — try the maker that matches, or "Other" to see both readings.
